Here is a list of the small appliances that I find indispensable around my kitchen.
This bad boy gets a lot of use. I tend to make a roast or two a week and with this slicer I can cut up the leftovers into nice shaved potions. I either freeze the portions or put them in the fridge for snacks, lunches ad salads.
It is dead easy to clean as well. Using some mild soapy water and a clothe, you just have to wipe it down. The blade is removable for easy cleaning as well.
I use my dehydrator about twice a week making beef and pork jerky. I have my own great recipe for Paleo Beef Jerky that you can try out. You don’t really need the dehydrator as you can use your oven (or make your own), but it by using the dehydrator, you get to walk away and do other things, even leave the house worry free. Using an oven requires that you stick around so nothing untoward happens.
Clean up for this product is again pretty easy. Hand wash and air dry. Or you can place the trays in the upper rack of a dishwasher.
I use my food processor for all kinds of things. Mostly, I use it to chop hard things up like nuts.
The other main use I have for this is mixing ingredients together like Paleo Banana Muffins. I can just throw everything in there, flip the switch, and in moments my batter is done. I am for anything that makes food preparation easy.
I love my mixing wand!! It’s great for pureeing soups in the pot as it is cooking as well as making the creamiest Mashed Cauliflower you can imagine. One of the best uses for this small appliance is making Baconaise. Once you layer the ingredients correctly, it will never fail to make the perfect consistency.
These mixers are quick to clean up. You just have to run them under hot water and give them a quick wipe and it’s ready for the next task.
No paleo kitchen should be without a slow cooker, Period! they are probably the single most useful appliance in your arsenal. You can make roasts, soups, stews and chilies in it. And best of all, you can leave it alone without any worries. Put it on before bed and lunch is ready for you the next day. Put it on in the morning and dinner is waiting when you get home from work.
A great use of this paleo appliance is rendering animal fat. If you can get a few pounds of pork fat or beef suet, you can easily render it down to lard and tallow with no mess and little supervision.
Whatever side of the coin you fall on the paleo coffee issue, I don’t care… I fucking love coffee!!! Especially Espresso!!! This bad boy is one hell of a great deal for a machine that pumps out 15 bars of pressure. I get a lot of use out of my espresso machine.
** If you don’t want to spend the money, a $20 French Press will do the trick almost as well. **
